Other students saw the gun in his backpack during an English class, Pasco deputies said.

SPRING HILL – A Hudson High School student was arrested after classmates said they had seen him partially take a gun from his backpack during an English class, according to the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office.

Logan Taylor Marcy, 15, of Spring Hill, was charged with one count each of Possession of a Weapon on School Property, Possession of Marijuana 20 Grams or Less, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Deputies said he did not meet the criteria for youth diversion because he is charged with a crime involving a firearm.

Deputies said that, on Monday (Jan. 28), Logan was in a fifth period English class at Hudson High School when he opened his backpack. Other classmates told deputies they saw a firearm inside.

One student described it as black with a gray slide. The other said he saw the magazine, which was removed from the gun and contained copper-colored bullets. Deputies said a third student saw Logan partially take the gun out of the backpack.

Deputies went to Logan’s home in Spring Hill where his mother and the homeowner consented to a search of Logan’s bedroom. Logan told deputies they might find marijuana when they searched the bedroom.

Deputies found the backpack and inside discovered marijuana and a silver metal grinder. His mother showed deputies her gun – a gray and black 9 mm Ruger.
