One brother was arrested in December. The other was arrested Tuesday (Jan. 31).
HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – Two brothers have been charged with last year’s murder of a Tampa woman whose body was found in a ditch, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said.
Lewis James Scott Jr., 28, was arrested Dec. 6, according to Hillsborough County Jail records. He is charged with one count each of first degree arson (dwelling), first degree murder and accessory after the fact. James Luis Scott, 22, was arrested Tuesday. He is charged with murder in the first degree with a weapon, tampering with evidence (destroy), and tampering with a witness. Both are live at 1722 Windsor Way, Tampa, according to jail records.
Deputies said the body of Evelyn Woodham, 26, of 3219 Clifford Sample Drive in Tampa, was found about 1:43 p.m. Nov. 1 in a ditch on the north side of the road just east of the intersection of 20th Avenue S and 58th Street by a resident who was out horseback riding. She was fully clothed and had suffered trauma to the upper body.
Lewis James Scott was arrested Dec. 6 on a charge of arson of a mobile home at 2014 Warrington Way, deputies said. During the course of the arson investigation, deputies said they learned that the mobile home had been burned in an attempt to destroy the evidence of Ms. Woodham’s murder. On Dec. 17, deputies said, they charged Lewis James Scott with first degree murder and accessory after the fact.
The investigation continued and in December deputies issued a warrant for James Luis Scott, accusing him of Ms. Woodham’s murder, deputies said. James Luis Scott was found and arrested by Tampa police Tuesday.
