A breath test indicated the man was two times over the limit for drunken driving, Hillsborough deputies said.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – A Tampa man was accused of drunken driving after a head-on traffic crash.

Geovany Mendez, 36, of 6829 Lemon St. W in Tampa, was charged with one count each of driving under the influence and having no valid drivers license, the Hillsborough Sheriff’s Office said.

Mendez was arrested early Sunday (Aug. 14) after tests indicated his blood alcohol level to be between .173 and .168. A person is determined to be legally drunk if their BAC is .08 or above.

The test was administered after deputies were called to the scene of a wrong-way car crash about 11:15 p.m. Saturday (Aug. 14) on Anderson Road near Hoover Boulevard. Details of the crash were not available.

One person in the crash received minor injuries and was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital, deputies said.

No other information was available.
