He admitted to placing the spy camera in the victim’s home and to having the camera there for about one year, Hillsborough deputies said.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – A Plant City man is accused of planting a spy camera in a friend’s home and of possessing child pornography, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

Terry Sumner, 55, of Plant City, was charged with 24 counts each of Possession of Child Pornography and Manufacturing Child Pornography and one count each of Interception of Wire, Oral or Electronic
Communications; Lewd and Lascivious Molestation Force or Enticing; Lewd and Lascivious Exhibition: and Capital Sexual Battery.

Deputies said that, some time in 2018, Sumner  placed a spy camera plugged into a wall outlet in the living room of a woman who was a family friend. On March 5, the woman found the camera and contacted her cable/internet provider, who helped her determine that the camera was linked to her home WiFi without her consent or knowledge.

Sumner had full access to the home, including the WiFi password and alarm code.

On March 5, detectives interviewed Sumner at his apartment in Plant City. They said he admitted placing the spy camera in the woman’s home and having the camera there for about a year. Sumner explained that there was an application on his phone that he would use to watch, listen and record activity in the woman’s home through a live feed.

A search warrant was issued to gain access to Sumner’s phone. As a result, detectives said they found hundreds of videos of the interior of the woman’s home, in addition to numerous pictures of child pornography. The children in the photos were younger than 11 and known to Sumner.
