HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – The Florida Highway Patrol arrested an Apollo Beach man this morning (May 14) in connection with a road rage hit and run crash that happened Friday (May 12).

Eric Joseph Starowicz, 26, of Apollo Beach, was arrested at his home. Troopers said they charged him with burglary of a conveyance, driving while license suspended, and leaving the scene of a crash. Neither driver was injured in the crash.

The crash happened about 11:44 a.m. 11:44 on the I-4 entrance ramp from 21st Street east of the I-275 interchange. Troopers said a blue jeep was traveling west a white van driven by James Nathaniel Robinson, 34, of Tampa. Troopers said the van slowed to merge into another lane when the Jeep passed, moved in front of the van and suddenly stopped.

Unable to avoid a collision, the van collided with the rear of the Jeep, resulting in a minor crash. After the crash, troopers said the Jeep’s driver, later identified as Starowicz, got out of his vehicle, walked over to the van and using an unknown object, shattered the driver’s window.
