Clearwater Police Investigate Motel Shooting Death

Officers are seeking a person of interest who might have information about the shooting.

CLEARWATER – Officers are investigating a fatal shooting at a motel Tuesday (Jan. 2) night, the Clearwater Police Department said.

Jermaine Crumpton, 44, of Clearwater, died early this morning (Jan. 3) at Bayfront Health St. Petersburg where he was taken after the shooting.

Clearwater police responded to a call of shots fired at the Super 8 Motel, 22950 U.S. 19 N, about 9:19 p.m. They found Mr. Crumpton with gunshot wounds.

Officers have released a photo of a man they say is a person of interest who might have information related to the shooting. Anyone with any information on his identity or about the case itself should call Clearwater Police at (727) 562-4242 or email tips@myclearwater.com.
