Hillsborough deputies said the two were paid thousands to perform liposuctions.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – Two Tampa residents are accused of practicing medicine without a license, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said.

Claudia Patricia Orozco, 44, is charged with four counts each of practicing medicine without a license, aggravated battery with great bodily harm and organized fraud less than $20,000. Marlon Ricardo Barcelo, 40, is facing two counts each of practicing medicine without a license and aggravated battery with great bodily harm. Both are from Tampa.

Hillsborough deputies and the Department of Health began an investigation into the Orozco Medical Clinic, 8210 W Waters Ave., after receiving complaints from patients who had had surgery. During the past one and a half years, the HCSO and DOH have reviewed records and conducted numerous interviews with patients who received a form of tumescent liposuction and paid thousands of dollars. Tumescent liposuction is used to remove fat from under the skin.

Orozco and Barcel are not licensed doctors and not authorized to perform this procedure on patients, deputies said.

The patients began to seek medical attention at various local hospitals from complications as a result of the surgery performed at the Orozco Medical Clinic, deputies said.
