Pasco County has scheduled three public workshops to find out how residents would like to see a 5.5 mile stretch of U.S. 301 from Dade City to Zephyrhills developed.

PASCO COUNTY – The Planning and Development department of Pasco County is hosting three public workshops to discuss the overall vision for the U.S. 301 corridor.

Each workshop will include a presentation of the draft U.S. 301 Model Development Code, which focuses on creating a set of standards for how future development will look along a 5.5 mile stretch of U.S. 301 from Zephyrhills to Dade City.

Everyone is welcome to attend any of the three workshops, which will be held as follows:

• Workshop No. 1: 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.  Monday (May 14)
  East Pasco Adventist Academy, 38434 Centennial Road, Dade City
• Workshop No. 2:  6 p.m. to 8 p.m. May 23
  Dade City Historic Courthouse, 37918 Meridian Ave., Dade City
• Workshop  No. 3:  6 p.m. to 8 p.m. June 1
  Zephyrhills Alice Hall Community Center, 38116 5th Ave, Zephyrhills

Pasco County officials want residents to share their thoughts and to let them know what resident would like to see along the U.S. 301 corridor. The U.S. 301 Model Development Code aims to acknowledge and protect the unique nature and distinct rural quality of this corridor. The initiative is a collaboration among Pasco County, Dade City and the city of Zephyrhills.

The intent of the U.S. 301 Model Development Code project is to create a “draft” code that represents the ideas and issues that were highlighted by the community in the past workshops during 2016. It would serve as a model for the development code that would be eventually implemented in the future.

U.S. 301 serves as an important connector between two of the major eastern jurisdictions within Pasco County – Dade City and the city of Zephyrhills. Marked by a rolling topography and scenic views, the corridor has a distinct quality that was highlighted by the community as a key aspect to be preserved. The draft code being prepared will address some of these aspects and dictate the future form along the corridor in a manner that respects the corridor’s unique quality.

The timeline for completion of the draft model code is June 30.
