Bilirakis: Make the Mueller Report Public
U.S. Rep. Gus Bilirakis said the report should be made public as a matter of “transparency” and that it’s time to move on to other issues.
WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Rep. Gus Bilirakis, R-Tarpon Springs, issued this statement after the release of Attorney General William Barr’s report summarizing the findings of Special Counsel Robert Mueller:
“After two years of investigation, the Independent Special Counsel, who had unlimited scope and resources, came to the same conclusion as two congressional oversight investigations: that there was no collusion between the Trump campaign and the Russian government.
“As a big believer in transparency, I support making the special counsel’s report public as soon as possible so the American people can review and have confidence in the findings.
“The time has come to close the chapter on this highly politicized matter, and refocus attention on the issues that impact all Americans and our community, such as: creating economic opportunity, protecting Medicare and Social Security, fighting the opioid epidemic, reducing the cost of prescription drugs, strengthening our national security, honoring our nation’s heroes, improving access to quality and affordable healthcare and reforming our mental health system.”
Bilirakis represents Florida’s 12th Congressional District, which includes includes all of Pasco and northern parts of Hillsborough and Pinellas counties.
