Tampa Mattress Manufacturer Warehouse Burns
It took more than three hours to bring the fire under control, according to Hillsborough Fire Rescue.
TAMPA – A three-alarm fire ripped through a Tampa mattress manufacturing warehouse Thursday (Sept. 21) evening.
Hillsborough Fire Rescue received a call about 6:20 p.m. of a fire at Florida Sleep Products, 5226 Hillsborough Ave E in Tampa. When firefighters first arrived they reported heavy smoke and fire coming from the roof of the warehouse. Firefighters from both Hillsborough and Tampa Fire Rescue were called to help battle the blaze.
The warehouse is divided into multiple businesses separated by a fire wall. The fire was in Florida Sleep Products, which manufactures mattresses on site. Firefighters encountered stacks of finished and unfinished mattresses inside the 25,000-square-foot warehouse.
Three ladder trucks were set up around the steel warehouse building. Foam was brought in to help extinguish the flames. It took about three hours and 20 minutes to bring the fire under control.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
