Crist Urges House to Reject ACA Repeal

U.S. Rep. Charlie Crist urged fellow representatives to “do the right thing” and reject the American Health Care Act, which would repeal the Affordable Care Act.

WASHINGTON, DC – Ahead of a scheduled vote in the House on legislation repealing the Affordable Care Act, U.S. Rep. Charlie Crist, D-St. Petersburg, last night (March 22) called on his colleagues to reject the proposed American Health Care Act.

The AHCA, he said, would leave 24 million Americans without coverage, including almost 60,000 residents in Florida’s 13th Congressional District. Since it was signed into law seven years ago today, the Affordable Care Act has helped 1.7 million Floridians access care through the marketplace.

“Florida is the number one state with Affordable Care Act enrollments, we stand to lose the most with repeal,” Crist said. “People’s lives are on the line with this vote. Let’s do the right thing and reject this bill.”

Crist represents the 13th Congressional District, which covers mid- and south Pinellas County.
