Deborah Saucier had been missing since Jan. 8. Although no foul play is suspected, Tampa police said questions remain.

TAMPA – The body of a woman missing since Jan. 8 was found in the Hillsborough River, according to the Tampa Police Department.

It is unclear how Deborah Saucier ended up in the river. Police said foul play is not suspected.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission was called out about 11:32 a.m. Friday (March 15) to Water Taxi Dock  No. 16 on the Hillsborough River to investigate something lodged under the floating dock. It was determined that it was a body. The Tampa Police Department dive team recovered the body.

Since the recovery, the Hillsborough County Medical Examiner’s Office and Tampa police detectives have been working to positively identify the body. That identification was confirmed Monday (March 18).

Ms. Saucier’s family last saw her the morning of Jan. 8 leaving her home. Her vehicle was found abandoned near Julian B. Lane Park in the 1000 block of N Boulevard. She was considered missing and endangered because of medical conditions that required medication. A Silver Alert was activated.

The investigation determined that she had been at the Seminole Hard Rock Casino the day she was last seen. Tampa Police released video of Ms. Saucier at the casino in the hopes that someone would recall seeing her that day and could help locate her.

Since she was reported missing, TPD detectives worked with Ms. Saucier’s family and searched for video in the area where her car was abandoned.

At this time, police said, several questions remain unanswered, including how Ms. Saucier ended up in the Hillsborough River.
