The 15 year old is in critical condition.

ST. PETERSBURG – A teenager is in the hospital with wounds from what appears to be a drive-by shooting, St. Petersburg police said.

Police have not released the boy’s name but say he is in Bayfront Health in critical condition.

Officers received a call about 1:18 this morning (June 14) that someone had been shot at 3648 20th Ave. S. Additional callers reported multiple shots fired in the same area, and two officers who were east of the area heard shots they believed sounded like they were fired from different weapons.

By the time officers reached the location, the victim, a 15-year old boy, had been placed in a private vehicle to be driven to the hospital. Other responding officers stopped the vehicle at 22nd Avenue S and 46th Street, where St. Petersburg Fire-Rescue paramedics began treatment and took the victim to Bayfront Health.

The victim does not live at the location of the shooting, police said. He was one of several people believed to have been around the home at the time. The same house was targeted by gunfire within the past week; however, no one was injured in that incident.

There are no suspect descriptions at this time and police said they are treating this as a drive-by shooting based on witness statements.
