The charges came after 50 officers from the Pinellas Park Police Department, state Probation and Parole, Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement converged on the Butterfly Lodge Motel, 12500 U.S.19 N, about 7:15 p.m. to conduct surprise probation checks on 34 known sex offenders, 15 of which have the designation of sexual predator.

The offenders have various probation conditions based on their past criminal history and convictions, Pinellas Park police said. Each must  submit to a search of himself, his residence and any vehicle he has access to as a condition of probation. The officers were looking for probation violations that range from possession of narcotics, alcohol, weapons possession, or access to the internet. Pinellas Park police and probation and parole officers conducted the same type of search in February 2014, during which time 11 were arrested.
