PINELLAS PARK – Police have charged a Pinellas Park man with abusing his live-in girlfriend’s daughter.

Mark Phillip Sutton, 42, of Pinellas Park, was charged with five counts of lewd and lascivious molestation, two counts of sexual battery on a victim 12 years of age or older, and one count of capital sexual battery, Pinellas Park police said. Police said the investigation remains open and more charges are possible.

Police said they arrested Sutton about 12:18 a.m. Tuesday (July 19). The girl had been taken to the hospital by her mother for unrelated medical problems at which time it was discovered she was four months pregnant. That was the first both the daughter and mother learned of the pregnancy.

The daughter told her mother and investigators that she had been sexually molested and battered by Sutton, the mother’s live-in boyfriend, since she was 8 years old. The victim, who just turned thirteen, said she had never been sexually active with anyone other than Sutton, police said.

Police said the girl told officers that Sutton performed oral sex on her and had her perform oral sex on him on multiple occasions. Police said he also had sexual intercourse with the child within in the family home. She told police that, on multiple occasions, Sutton rubbed his hand over the top of her clothing in the vaginal and breast areas of the victims body, while having her touch his penis.
