One Dead, Two Injured in St. Petersburg Home Invasion

Officers said they do not believe it was a random act, the St. Petersburg Police Department said.

ST. PETERSBURG – One man is dead and two others are in the hospital after an early morning home invasion, according to the St. Petersburg Police Department.

Cory D. McClendon, 35, was shot and died at the scene. Ackeem Marks, 25, was taken to a hospital in critical but stable condition. His brother, Shaevaughn Marks, 20, suffered non-life threatening injuries. He is listed in stable condition. It is unclear if the brothers were shot or otherwise injured.

Police said the home invasion happened shortly after 5:30 a.m. at a home on 11th Avenue S where the Marks lived with a third brother. All three were home.

Officers said three men, including Mr. McClendon, forced their way into the house. The other two suspects are at large.
