Hillsborough, Tampa, St. Pete Send Firefighters to Panhandle

The three agencies, which make up Florida Task Force 3, are headed to Apalachicola in response to Hurricane Michael.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – Hillsborough County Fire Rescue, Tampa Fire Rescue, and St. Petersburg Fire Rescue are sending a joint task force to the Apalachicola and St. Mark’s River area in the wake of Hurricane Michael.

The group, Florida Task Force 3, which leaves the Tampa Bay area tonight (Oct. 10), includes 72 personnel with search and rescue equipment and will remain in the Florida panhandle for seven to 14 days. Members will help with search and rescue operations including swift water capabilities.

4 Jon Boats and 1 inflatable boat with outboard motors for water rescue

30 personnel
K-9 Unit

Brush truck

St. Petersburg Fire Rescue:
20 personnel
2 search trucks
