Gov. Rick Scott has declared a state of emergency.
Tropical Storm Erika’s projected path goes up the middle of Florida, the National Hurricane Center’s 11 a.m. Friday advisory says. The storm is not forecast to attain hurricane status, but Gov. Rick Scott has declared a state of emergency.
Erika is aiming at Hispaniola with 50 mph winds as of 11 a.m. Forecasters anticipate it approaching the tip of Florida by Monday morning and journey north up the state’s spine as a strong tropical storm.
