Lightning Strikes Clearwater Golfer

He had just stepped off his golf cart when the lightning bolt hit him, according to Clearwater Fire Rescue.

CLEARWATER – A 76-year-old man was struck by lightning Friday (Aug. 18) morning while playing golf at the Clearwater Country Club, according to Clearwater Fire Rescue said.

Frank Sink was taken to Tampa General Hospital for treatment of his injuries. He had been upgraded to fair condition late Friday afternoon.

Sink was struck shortly after 11 a.m. Fire officials said he had just stepped off his golf cart at the seventh hole at the near the green when the bolt struck him.
