This year’s gay and lesbian film fest will be shown in a Tampa theater and a St. Pete theater.

ST. PETERSBURG — Featuring screenings on both sides of the bay, the Tampa Bay International Gay and Lesbian Film Festival has announced its dates for 2016: Sept. 30 through Oct. 8.

The 27th annual festival will offer nine days of movies. The theme this year is CommUNITY, “by and for our diverse CommUNITY,” says the TIGLFF web site. Festival screenings will address a broad range of issues and be viewed in two theaters.

From Sept. 30 to Oct. 5, screenings will be at the Tampa Theatre, as part of the theatre’s 90th anniversary year. From Oct. 6 to Oct. 8, films will be shown at freeFall Theatre in St. Petersburg.

Many of the films are submissions. Deadlines for this year’s submissions are: early, May 15; regular, June 26; late, July 10.
