ST. PETERSBURG — Restaurants of the Grand Central District and EDGE District will be participating in the inaugural “Bacon Battle,” a month-long contest to determine who serves the best bacon dish.  During the month of February, consumers will be able to dine at the nine participating restaurants to taste the entries and then score each of them online.

Participating restaurants include:

The Burg Bar & Grill, 1752 Central Ave.; Brooklyn South, 1437 Central Ave.; Engine Rose, 2901 Central Ave.; King’s Street Food, 937 Central Ave.; Old Key West Bar & Grill, 2451 Central Ave.; Punky’s Bar & Grill, 3063 Central Ave.; Ricky P’s Orleans Bistro, 1113 Central Ave.; Urban Brew & BBQ , 1939 Central Ave.; Urban Comfort, 2601 Central Ave.

Diners will be able to view the participants and score each dish through the websites of the Grand Central District Association (www.grandcentraldistrict.org) and EDGE District Association (www.edgedistrict.org). There also is a Facebook event page that is dedicated to the promotion between Feb. 1 and Feb. 29.

The bacon dish receiving the highest score will be named the People’s Choice winner. In addition, a panel of guest judges will score each dish to determine the winner of the Judges’ Choice award. The winners will be announced on March 1 and a trophy presentation will be held on a date to be determined.
