The weekend of auto racing and other entertainment will fill several days.

ST. PETERSBURG — Committed gearheads, casual racing fans and downtown residents and frequent visitors will want to mark their calendars, if they haven’t already. The Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg comes to town March 10-12.

The racing itself takes place on those three days — a Friday, Saturday and Sunday — but related events and practice runs on the 1.8-mile waterfront course will take place for most of the week.

A fan village, beer gardens, a 5K footrace, interactive games and exhibits, celebrity athletes and autograph sessions are among scheduled activities.

In its 13th year, this year’s Grand Prix will include 13 races. The 110-lap Verizon IndyCar race is the feature.
