Here’s a chance to work with professional artists to put your St. Pete dream on canvas.

ST. PETERSBURG — If you have a vision for St. Petersburg and would like to see it as a painting, there is a can’t-miss event coming up for you.

Paint Your Dream, St. Pete! takes place from noon to 4 p.m., Saturday (Aug. 29) at North Straub Park, 350 Bayshore Drive NE.

The open-to-all, free session is being presented by the Pinellas County Urban League Young Professionals in partnership with AARP and the Museum of Fine Arts.

The event consists of four group painting sessions in which attendees will have the opportunity to work with a professional artist to paint a collective vision for the city. Paintings will be judged by city officials and the winning painting will be featured in a local establishment.

Participants also will have a chance to create individual paintings of iconic St. Petersburg monuments—like Tropicana Field and the Pier.

And AARP will be host to Life Reimagined Dream Clinics for adult attendees that offer resources and tools to help them bring their personal and professional dreams into fruition.

In keeping with Mayor Rick Kriseman’s vision that “the sun shines on all in St. Petersburg,” the event aims to build a collective consciousness of that vision among members of the St. Petersburg community. It is part of a broader movement promoting St. Petersburg as a vibrant, diverse and artistic city welcoming all, regardless of age, race or culture.

A cocktail reception at the Museum of Fine Arts will follow. Guests can chat with community leaders, neighbors and friends, and see a glow-paint performance.

To register for Paint Your Dream, St. Pete! and purchase tickets for the cocktail reception, visit www.eventjoy.com/e/paintstpete. Proceeds raised through sponsorship will benefit the Pinellas County Urban League.
