The race is celebrating its 35th year with the usual 5K, 10K and mile runs.

OLDSMAR — The Armadillo Run is celebrating its 35th year Saturday (March 11) and once again the Rotary Club of Oldsmar/East Lake will be hosting the 10K and 5K events for Tampa Bay-area runners and walkers in downtown Oldsmar. Both races will start at 7:30 a.m., to be followed by a 1-mile Wellness Run/Walk at 8:45 a.m.

The registration fee for both the 5k and 10K is $35, while the 1-mile event is $20. The 10K and 5K are run on a flat, certified course and will have three water stops and splits every mile. Awards will be presented to the top three in each age group and all pre-registered runners are guaranteed to receive a commemorative T-shirt.

A post-race party will feature massages, entertainment, beer and food. The race start and finish is located at the Oldsmar Library at 400 St. Petersburg Drive E and pre-race packets (bib and T-shirt) will be available for pickup on Friday (March 10) from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the library parking lot. There will also be on-site registration available at this time.

Michael McDonald of Palm Harbor won the 5K event last year in 16:48, while Mike Juurlink took the 10K in 36:27. More than 500 runners and walkers participated in 2016, which helps the Rotary Club of Oldsmar/East Lake support charities in the community.
