Hillsborough County Opens Sandbag Sites

Heavy rainfall is predicted today and for the next few days.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – The National Weather Service is predicting heavy rainfall, associated with a developing low pressure system, in the Tampa Bay area in the next few days. Sandbag materials will be available this weekend for Hillsborough County residents to make their own sandbags.

There is a limit of 25 sandbags per resident. Sandbag materials will be available at all three county public works service units:

  • West Service Unit, 9805 Sheldon Road
  • South Service Unit, 8718 Old Big Bend Road
  • East Service Unit, 4702 Sydney Road

All facilities will be open the following dates and times:

  • 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. today (Aug. 6)
  • 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday (Aug. 7)

Residents should bring shovels. Each resident must sign their name and provide their home address acknowledging the receipt of 25 sandbags or less.

Residents can call (813) 635-5400 to report flooding and road problems or to request additional information.
