FEMA Comes to Your Doorstep in Hernando

FEMA | Disaster | Hurricane

Teams from FEMA will canvass door-to-door to bring information and help survivors of Hurricane Irma register for aid.

HERNANDO COUNTY – A Disaster Survivor Assistance Team, provided by the Federal Emergency Management Agency, arrived in Hernando County on Thursday (Dept. 21) to help with recovery from Hurricane Irma.

DSAT provides information directly to survivors by canvassing the community door-to-door and at locations where citizens frequent, so that everyone in the community has equal access and understanding of the assistance process. Along with providing information, they also register survivors for FEMA’s Individual Assistance Program and conduct individual case status visits door-to-door.

The DSAT is not available by phone and does not have an office location. They will be wearing FEMA identification.

While DSAT’s primary goal is to inform survivors about the recovery process, the team also collects information that can aid the community, such as identifying unmet needs and other areas of concern.

Hernando County Government’s Office of Emergency Management continues to monitor and inform our community about storm impacts. For information, go to HernandoCounty.us/em
