A Spring Hill lawyer was publicly reprimanded by the Florida Bar.

TALLAHASSEE – A Tampa attorney accused of lying to his client has been disbarred and a Spring Hill lawyer accused of not doing his job has been publicly reprimanded, according to the Florida Bar.

The Tampa Bay lawyers are two of 12 Florida attorneys who were disciplined by the Bar.

Michael Eric Eisenberg of Tampa was disbarred, effective immediately, after a Sept. 20 court order. He was admitted to practice in 2003.

A client retained Eisenberg to handle a probate matter related to the client’s deceased mother. According to the Bar, Eisenberg provided the client with legal advice that was later determined to be inaccurate. Upon learning of his error, Eisenberg indicated he would remedy the mistake and move the estate through probate court on an expedited basis. He subsequently informed the client, and related third parties, that he had filed the correct necessary pleadings with the court, when in fact, he had not. Eisenberg did not file any pleadings with the court and failed to communicate with the client henceforth. He also failed to participate in the Bar’s disciplinary proceedings.

Mark L. Wilkins of Spring Hill was publicly reprimanded, effective immediately, after a Sept. 20 court order. Wilkins was admitted to practice in 2008,

After Wilkins filed a complaint in a civil case, he took no further action and allowed the case to languish in the court system for about two years, the Bar said. He did not communicate with his client for months at a time and failed to have vital discussions with his client, which were necessary to advance his case.

As an official arm of the Florida Supreme Court, the Florida Bar and its Department of Lawyer Regulation are charged with administering a statewide disciplinary system to enforce Supreme Court rules of professional conduct for the 105,802 members of the Florida Bar. Key discipline case files that are public record are posted to attorneys’ individual online Florida Bar profiles.
