PASCO COUNTY – A Zephyrhills man died of injuries he suffered when he was thrown from his motorcycle in a crash on U.S. 301 on Sunday (Aug. 11), the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Nathaniel Eli Hansen, 24, of Zephyrhills, died at Tampa General Hospital where he was taken after the crash. He was wearing a helmet. Troopers said it’s unclear if he had been drinking. Test results are pending.

The other driver was not injured.

The crash happened about 6:20 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. 301 and Bailey Hill Road in Pasco County.

Troopers said a 2010 Chevrolet pickup truck was traveling east on Bailey Hill when it entered the path of the 2018 Honda motorcycle that Mr. Hansen was driving south on U.S. 301 at a high rate of speed. The motorcycle hit the utility trailer that the pickup was towing. Mr. Hansen was thrown from the motorcycle.

Charges are pending, troopers said.
