HERNANDO COUNTY – A Weeki Wachee man died Friday (may 15) when he was thrown from his motorcycle in a crash on U.S. 19, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
The motorcyclist, a 25-year-old man from Weeki Wachee, died at the scene. The other driver, a 56-year-old Brooksville man, suffered minor injuries.
The crash happened about 4:05 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. 19 and Happy Days Drive in Hernando County.
Troopers said the Brooksville man was driving a sedan east on Happy Days Drive when he turned into the path of a motorcycle that was traveling north on U.S. 19. As a result, the motorcycle hit the passenger side of the sedan. The motorcyclist, who was wearing a helmet, was thrown from the bike.
