The driver lost control of his SUV, FHP troopers say.

HERNANDO COUNTY – A driver and his passenger were seriously injured in a crash this morning (May 16) on U.S. 41, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Both are 24-year-old men from Spring Hill. Both were wearing seat belts.

The crash happened about 8:10 a.m. at the intersection of U.S. 41 and Twingate Avenue in Hernando County.

Troopers said the driver was piloting an SUV south on U.S. 41 when, for an unknown reason, he lost control of the vehicle. The SUV traveled into the northbound lane of U.S. 41, then onto the southeast shoulder at the intersection of Twingate Avenue where it collided with the Clover Leaf Farms RV Park sign. After that, the SUV hit a tree, rotated and then hit a fence before coming to a final rest.
