PASCO COUNTY – Two women died and a man was seriously injured Friday (June 26) night in a head-on crash on State Road 54, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

One of the women who died was a 25-year-old Wesley Chapel resident who was driving one of the vehicles. The other, a 34-year-old from Zephyrhills, was a passenger in the other vehicle. The driver of the second vehicle, who was seriously injured, was a 37-year-old man from Zephyrhills. None of them was wearing a seat belt, FHP troopers said.

The crash happened about 10:30 p.m. on State Road 54 approaching Ashton Oaks Boulevard in Pasco County.

Troopers said the Wesley Chapel woman was driving a sedan west on SR 54 when, for an unknown reason, she lost control of the car, which entered the oncoming lane. The car collided nearly head-on with an SUV driven by the Zephyrhills man.
