Tampa Motorcyclist Critically Injured in I-275 Crash
The other driver did not stop, FHP troopers say.
HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – Florida Highway Patrol troopers are looking for the driver of a car that was involved in a crash that critically injured a motorcyclist Sunday (July 12) night.
The motorcyclist, a 30-year-old man from Tampa, was not wearing a helmet, troopers said. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
The crash happened about 10:19 p.m. on northbound I-275 at about Mile Marker 44 in Hillsborough County.
Troopers said the motorcyclist was driving “at a high rate of speed, performing multiple lane changes” when he tried to pass between two vehicles.
The motorcycle struck the rear of one of the other vehicles. The force of the impact shoved the motorcycle across the travel lanes until it hit the concrete median barrier.
The other vehicle, described as a black Cadillac Escalade, did not stop and left the scene.
Troopers are asking anyone with any information about the crash to contact the FHP by calling (813) 558-1800.
