The car hydroplaned before hitting the pole, FHP troopers say.

PINELLAS COUNTY – A power pole was broken Saturday (June 6) when a car hit it after hydroplaning on a wet road), the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The driver, a 21-year-old man from North Redington Beach, suffered minor injuries. It is unclear if he was taken to the hospital or if he was cited.

The crash happened about 10:01 a.m. on Alt. U.S. 19 N east of Park Street in Pinellas County.

Troopers said the man was traveling west on Alt. U.S. 19 at a speed that was “too fast for the wet road conditions.” The car hydroplaned and rotated before hitting the pole, which broke in half. The impact pushed the car back into the traffic lane.
