Another driver suffered serious injuries in the crash. A third driver suffered minor injuries.
HERNANDO COUNTY – A Port Richey man died Sunday (Sept. 20) in a three-vehicle crash on U.S. 19, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
The 45-year-old man from Port Richey died at the scene. He was not wearing a seat belt. One of the other drivers, a 76-year-old Holiday man, suffered serious injuries. The third driver, an 81-year-old Homosassa man, suffered minor injuries.
The crash happened about 4:17 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. 19 N and Pepper Street in Hernando County.
The deceased man was driving a pickup truck south on U.S. 19 when he failed to slow or stop for traffic that was stopped for a red light at the intersection. His pickup truck hit a pickup truck driven by the Holiday man, then hit the sedan driven by the Homosassa man, troopers said.
After the impact, the Port Richey man’s truck overturned and came to a final rest in the intersection. The other two vehicles came to rest in the west grass shoulder of U.S. 19.
