Pinellas Park Man Critically Injured in Three-Vehicle Crash on 49th Street
Neither of the other two drivers was injured, Pinellas Park police say.
PINELLAS PARK – A Pinellas Park man was critically injured in a three-vehicle crash on 49th Street on Friday (July 3) afternoon, according to the Pinellas Park Police Department.
Leonard Matthews, 56, of Pinellas Park was taken to a hospital where he was listed in critical condition. Neither of the other drivers suffered injuries.
The crash happened about 3:15 p.m. at the intersection of 49th Street N and 94th Avenue in Pinellas Park.
Matthews was driving a 2000 Toyota Corolla north on 49th Street when he tried to make a left turn to go west on 94th Avenue. While making this turn, police said, Matthews drove into the path of a 2003 Honda Accord, causing a collision.
As a result of the crash, the Honda was pushed into a 2016 Maserati Ghibli that was stopped at the red light on 94th Avenue.
At this time, there are no criminal charges involved in this case, but police said the investigation is active.
