Pedestrian Critically Injured in Dunedin Crash

She was not in a marked crosswalk, Pinellas deputies say.
DUNEDIN – A Dunedin woman was critically injured Friday (Feb. 14) when she hit by an SUV while crossing a road, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said.
Cecilia Escarlet Dassie, 79, was taken to Bayfront Health with life-threatening injuries.
The crash happened about 6:50 p.m. near the intersection of San Christopher Drive and County Road 1 in Dunedin.
Deputies said Dassie was crossing San Christopher Drive just west of CR 1 pulling a metak cart with groceries. She was not in a designated crosswalk when she was hit by a 2007 Mercury Mariner when it turned west onto San Christopher Drive.
It does not appear that speed or impairment is a factor in the crash.
The investigation is continuing.
