Pedestrian Calls Police Saying He Is Drunk, Then Is Hit While Waiting for Help
No charges have been filed but the investigation is ongoing, Pinellas Park police say.
PINELLAS PARK – A homeless man who called police saying he was intoxicated and needed help was killed when he was hit by a car, the Pinellas Park Police Department said.
David S. Martin, 57, a transient, died at the scene.
The crash happened about 3:22 a.m. Saturday (June 13) at Park Boulevard and 52nd Street N in Pinellas Park.
Police said they received a call from Mr. Martin saying that he was highly intoxicated and needed help. While police and emergency medical paramedics searched for him, they heard a crash at the intersection of Park Boulevard and 52nd Street.
First responders went to the intersection and found that Mr. Martin had been hit by a 2000 Ford while he was in the roadway
The Ford’s driver waved down an officer and remained on scene. He is cooperating with the investigation. Police said there are no charges at this time, however the investigation is ongoing.
