INDIAN ROCKS BEACH – The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a deputy-involved crash that injured a motorcyclist and his passenger in Indian Rocks Beach.
The motorcyclist and his passenger both suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The motorcyclist, a 51-year-old man from St. Petersburg, was treated at the scene. His passenger, a 51-year-old woman from Indian Rocks Beach, was taken to the hospital where she was treated and released. The 23-year-old deputy was not injured.
The crash happened about 10:37 p.m. Friday (May 15) at the intersection of Gulf Boulevard and Fourth Avenue in Indian Rocks Beach.
Investigators said the deputy was on duty and driving a fully marked 2020 Chevrolet Tahoe south on Gulf Boulevard when he made a left turn to travel east onto Fourth Avenue to try to stop two vehicles that turned
ahead of him.
The motorcyclist was driving a 2007 Harley Davidson north on Gulf. He hit the side of the Tahoe, deputies said.
Impairment and speed are not factors in this case, deputies said.
The investigation is continuing.
