Juvenile Critical After Hit-and-Run Crash
The driver stopped after hitting a teen but did not call 911 or offer aid. She then left the scene, Hillsborough deputies say.
TAMPA – Deputies have charged a woman with a hit-and-run crash that left a teenager in critical condition, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said.
The teenaged victim is listed in critical condition at Tampa General Hospital.
Nakeeba Elia Ryan, 24, of Tampa, was charged with Leaving the Scene of a Crash with Serious Bodily Injury. She is employed by the Department of Children and Family Services.
About 7:15 p.m. Thursday (Jan. 30), Hillsborough deputies said they received a 911 call about a crash in which a pedestrian had been injured.
The teenager was walking home with friends toward 122nd Avenue E on 15th Street in Tampa. The teenager crossed the road and was hit by a small, dark colored SUV near the intersection.
The driver of the SUV, a woman lateridentified as Ryan, got out of her car after the crash. Ryan checked around the car before getting back into it. However, she did not render any type of aid to the victim or call 911, deputies said.
