He suffered a minor injury when he jumped over a barrier to avoid being hit, the FHP says.
HILLSBOUROUGH COUNTY – A Florida Highway Patrol trooper suffered a minor injury Friday (June 12) when he jumped over a road barrier to avoid being hit on I-4.
The other driver was not injured.
The crash happened about 2:08 p.m. on westbound I-4 underneath the U.S. 301 overpass in Hillsborough County.
The FHP said the trooper, who was driving a marked FHP motorcycle, was parked beneath the bridge conducting traffic enforcement. He saw a sedan with a wheel separation driven by a 29-year-old St. Petersburg woman approaching him as he stood next to his motorcycle.
The trooper jumped over the barrier to avoid being hit. The sedan hit the FHP motorcycle.
