FHP Seeks Hit-and-Run Driver in Wrong-Way Crash on I-275
The unknown driver was traveling north in the southbound lanes of I-275 when he sideswiped an SUV, FHP troopers say.
PINELLAS COUNTY – Florida Highway Patrol troopers are seeking a driver who fled the scene after hitting an SUV while traveling the wrong-way on I-275.
No one was seriously injured in the crash. The driver and passenger in the Mercedes ML350 suffered minor injuries but were not taken to a hospital.
The crash happened about 8:54 p.m. Monday (Jan. 20) on southbound I-275 south of 54th Avenue S in St. Petersburg.
Troopers said the Mercedes was traveling south on I-275 when it was sideswiped by a car that was northbound in the southbound lanes. The car continued traveling after it hit the Mercedes.
Troopers said it is unclear where the sedan started traveling the wrong way. It was described only as a passenger car.
