The crash blocked portions of southbound I-275. No one was injured, FHP troopers say.
HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – A Tampa man was cited in connection with a crash on I-275 that temporarily blocked a portion of the southbound lanes this morning (March 15).
Gomes Rodrigues Lindemberg, 35, of Tampa, was cited for an improper lane change, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. No one was injured in the crash.
The crash happened about 8:55 a.m. on southbound I-275 at about Mile Marker 40 just south of Dale Mabry Highway in Hillsborough County.
Troopers said Lindemberg was driving a pickup truck that was towing a trailer with yard debris when he tried to change lanes while accelerating past other drivers. The trailer began to fishtail as he overtook a tractor-trailer that was carrying 245 propane tanks.
Lindemberg lost control of his truck, which collided with the front of the tractor-trailer.
The tractor-trailer then hit the inside guardrail and overturned, blocking all southbound lanes. The pickup truck jackknifed and came to rest also blocking portions of I-275.
Portions of the loads from both truck were strewn about the interstate during the crash.
The road was open again by about 11:22 a.m.
