Clearwater Man Dies After Being Hit on Belleair Road
He was sitting in the roadway when he was hit, FHP troopers say.
PINELLAS COUNTY – A Clearwater man died of injuries he suffered when he was hit by a car while he was sitting on Belleair Road, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The name of the deceased man, a 45-year-old Clearwater resident, was not released. He died of his injuries at a hospital where he was taken after the crash. It is unclear if impairment was a factor in the crash. The driver who hit him was not injured.
The crash happened about 11:23 p.m. Thursday (April 23) on Belleair Road (County Road 464) in Pinellas County.
Troopers said the man was sitting in the traffic lane of Belleair Road when he was hit by a car whose driver was unable to see him. The deceased man tried unsuccessfully to move out of the path of the oncoming car.
