ATV Crash Kills 7-Year-Old Driver, Injures Five Passengers
One of the passengers, a 2-year-old toddler, was seriously hurt, FHP troopers say.
DADE CITY – A 7-year-old Dade City boy died from injuries he suffered when the ATV he was driving overturned Saturday (July 4), according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Five passengers were also injured. One of them, a 2-year-old boy, was seriously injured. A 4-year-old Dade City girl also suffered minor injuries in the crash. The other three, who suffered minor injuries, were all adults from Dade City.
None of the children were wearing seat belts or in child seats, FHP troopers say.It is unknown if the adults were wearing seat belts. No one in the ATV was wearing a helmet.
The crash happened about 8:02 p.m. in a grass field at 17106 Powerline Road in Dade City in Pasco County.
Troopers said the Kawasaki TERYX4 ATV overturned, injuring all the occupants.
An FHP spokesman said, “The fatal crash investigation remains ongoing at this time and will likely continue for several weeks by the Florida Highway Patrol.”
