99-Year-Old Palm Harbor Man Dies After U.S. 19 Crash
He suffered a medical emergency after the crash and died at a hospital, FHP troopers say.
PINELLAS COUNTY – A 99-year-old Palm Harbor man died Saturday from a medical emergency he suffered after a traffic crash on U.S. 19 N, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
The man, whose name was withheld, was a passenger in a pickup truck that was involved in the crash. FHP troopers said he suffered a medical emergency after the crash and was taken to a hospital where he died. The 60-year-old driver suffered minor injuries.
The crash happened about 11:50 a.m. Saturday (June 6) at the Ventura Plaza, 36500 U.S. 19 N in Pinellas County.
Troopers said the pickup truck in which the deceased man was riding was traveling north on U.S. 19. The truck tried to turn right into the Ventura Plaza parking lot, troopers said, the turn was too wide and the vehicle traveled onto the shoulder of the road just north of the lot entrance.
Once on the shoulder, the trick hit a ditch that runs parallel to U.S. 19 and came to a final rest.
