40th Avenue Crash Kills Motorcyclist
The other driver turned into the path of the motorcycle, St. Pete police said.
ST. PETERSBURG – A motorcyclist died of injuries he suffered Saturday (June 22) night in a crash on 40th Avenue NE, according to the St. Petersburg Police Department.
Michael Paul Lyon, 26, was taken to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg where he was pronounced dead.
The crash happened about 8:30 p.m. in the 1100 block of 40th Avenue NE in St. Petersburg.
Police said a Hyundai Sonata, driven by Margaret Sherry Capabianco, 71, was eastbound on 40th Avenue when she turned left to go into a driveway and into the path of the westbound Kawasaki motorcycle Mr. Lyon was driving. The motorcycle hit the right side of Capabianco’s Hyundai.
Impairment was not a factor for Capabianco. Officers said the investigation is ongoing.
