St. Petersburg recognizes Florida Bicycle Month with Bike to Work Day on Friday.

ST. PETERSBURG – As part of Florida Bicycle Month, the city of St. Petersburg is promoting Friday (March 16) as Bike to Work Day with a set of three group bicycle rides, ending with a rally
at Williams Park.

Residents are invited to join riders at 7 a.m., at one of three locations:

Coffee Pot Park, at the corner of  First Street and 30th Avenue NE.;
the Historic Train Station at the Morean Center for Clay, 420 22nd St. S.;
Bartlett Park, Fourth Street and 18th Avenue S

Riders will depart from each location at 7:15 a.m.and ride to Williams Park, 330 Second Ave. N.

St. Petersburg Mayor Rick Kriseman will lead the bicycle ride from the Train Station. Once at the park, riders may enjoy free coffee and doughnuts, courtesy of Black Crow Coffee and remarks from Kriseman.

Bicycling to work is a fast, economical, healthy, and fun way to get to work for many residents. In November, St. Pete was named a Silver Bicycle Friendly Community by the League of  American Bicyclists, in part because of events such as Bike to Work Day, and for promoting bicycling as a sustainable transportation option.
