Flowers and Thanos have a longtime work relationship through the Democratic party and the Gulfport Democratic Club. Flowers has also headlined several events recently in Gulfport focusing on voting rights , Hands Across the Bay, healthcare, and the Peace and Love Festival.

“That’s why I have endorsed Rene Flowers. Rene is visible and active in Gulfport—not just during election season.Rene is not only the right choice, she is the only choice to represent District 7 on the Pinellas County Commission- addressing issues that concern all constituents,” Thanos said.
