St. Petersburg Man Charged with DUI Manslaughter
St. Petersburg police say he was impaired when the truck he was driving hit a sedan earlier this week.
ST. PETERSBURG – A St. Petersburg man has been charged with drunken driving when he was involved in a fatal crash on 54th Avenue S, the St. Petersburg Police Department said.
Dorothy Wertz, 71, died at a hospital of her injuries in Tuesday’s (Dec. 10) crash. The other driver, Blake Scott Faine, 35, of St. Petersburg, was also taken to a hospital with serious injuries. Faine was arrested Friday (Dec. 13) and charged with one count of DUI Manslaughter.
Police said that, about 8:30 p.m., Tuesday, Faine was driving a black Nissan pickup truck west on 54th Avenue S when he struck the brown Nissan sedan Ms. Wertz was driving as it was exiting a store at 3077 54th Ave. S to make an eastbound turn onto 54th Avenue.
