Riverview Man Accused in Fatal Shooting
Two were injured and two died after the shooting, Tampa police say.
TAMPA – Police here have charged a Riverview man with a Dec. 26 shooting that killed two men and left two others seriously injured.
The Tampa Police Department said a 43-year-old man and a 29-year-old man died at a hospital where they were taken after the shooting. Two others, a 33-year-old man and a 32-year-old man, survived with serious injuries. The names of the deceased and injured were not released.
Livonte Howard, 22, of Riverview was arrested and charged in connection with the shooting. He was charged with First Degree Murder, Attempted First Degree Murder and Aggravated Battery.
The shooting happened early in the morning of Dec. 26 in the area of E Seventh Avenue near N 20th Street in Tampa.
The shooter was reported to have approached E Seventh from N 20th Street before he fired at the victims multiple times. He then fled north along N 20th before officers arrived.
Police said they identified Howard as the suspect and Monday (Jan. 4), they found him at a home in RIverview. Detectives said they saw Howard leave and re-enter the house.
Officers surrounded the house and ordered Howard to come out with his hands up. Howard eventually came outside and was taken into custody without incident.
